This bread isn’t only easy, it’s the absolute best! It also makes your house smell wonderful while it’s baking.
Homemade Bread
Yield: 6
Ingredients
Dough
- 2 Cups warm water (105-115 Degrees)
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp cubed butter
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- 5 1/2 Cups bread flour
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
To prepare the dough
- In a large bowl or mixer with paddle attachment, add warm water, yeast, and a drizzle of honey, Allow to rest for 5-10 minutes until mixture begins to bubble.
- Add remaining honey, salt, butter, and 3 cups flour. Mix to combine.
- Add another cup of flour and mix to combine. With mixer running, keep adding 1/2 cup of flour until dough begins to pull from the sides. Dough should be smooth and elastic, sticky but not too sticky. Add more flour if needed.
- Remove any stuck dough from paddle attachment and place back into the bowl. Change to your dough hook and knead dough for 4-5 minutes on medium speed, or 5-8 minutes using your hands.
- Remove dough from bowl and any stuck pieces from the dough hook and place on a lightly floured surface and kneed by hand a few more minutes.
First Rise
- Grease large bowl with olive oil and place dough in. Spreading oil all over dough lightly.
- Cover with a towel or plastic wrap.
- Place in a warm area (I found my oven works best with just the light on) for 1/5 hours.
2nd rise and bake
- Punch down dough in bowl and divide in half.
- Spray 2 9x5 bread pans generously with cooking spray.
- Add cut parchment paper to the bottom for easy removal after baking.
- Roll dough into logs and place into pans.
- Spray plastic wrap lightly and cover each bread dough.
- Place back in oven with only the light on for 45 Minutes to 1 hour or until bread has risen 1 inch over the bread pans.
- Remove dough from oven.
- Preheat oven to 350. Add dough back to oven and bake for 30 to 33 minutes.
- Remove Bread from oven, remove from pans and place on cooling rack.
- Brush tops of bread with melted butter.
- Let bread cool completely before slicing.
- Store in air-tight container.
