Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef (I used 85/15)
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped (Plus more for topping)
  • . 5 oz unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 8 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • Salt & Pepper to Taste

Instructions

  1. In large pot or dutch oven, heat oil. Add onions and saute for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in chocolate and dried seasonings.
  3. Next, stir in broth, tomato sauce, vinegar, tomato paste, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Crumble in ground beef and stir.
  5. Bring to a boil Simmer for 25 minutes.
  6. Serve over noodles with desired toppings. We loved onions, cheese, and oyster crackers! So good!
